Limited Nudity
Its everything you would expect from a Troma film, minus the senseless violence. Most of the nudity is far from the camera in the background. Theres a good full frontal scene that earned the movie an extra star. Its totaly corny... to the point it is funny. Coulda been way more skin in it.

The first ever film from Tower Productions, responsible for the long running television serial “Space Patrol,” and directed by longtime Harold Lloyd collaborator Fred C. Newmeyer, “Discarded Lovers” is a murder mystery elevated by sharp dialogue and solid performances. When sexy blonde film star Irma Gladden is murdered after filming the final scene in her latest movie, everyone around her is a suspect, each with their own compelling motive in this early talkie starring Natalie Moorhead (“The Thin Man”) as the ill-fated, troubled film star.

Pure Roasted Corn Before It Got Stale
It is really important to keep the age of the movie in mind. It is a "she done him wrong movie" and boy did that dame rack up the bodies.
The plot was filed with subtle jokes and old school twists. The budget was limited; you can tell that this was a stage bound production. There were two or three uncured hams but all in all a good kick back movie. If you have an hour to burn and are willing to take a step back in time it could be enjoyable to true film fanatics and historians.

"Say, What Are Ya Tryin' Ta Do, Make A Mug Outta Me?!"...
DISCARDED LOVERS opens on a movie set, where Irma Gladden (Natalie Moorhead), the female lead in a new melodrama, is almost shot by her insanely jealous husband, Ande (Roy D'Arcy- REVOLT OF THE ZOMBIES). Irma's been having an affair w/ Rex Forsythe (Jason Robards Sr.), among others. Tensions build as Irma's promiscuous behavior causes feelings of bitterness and even revenge. If that's not enough, there's Irma's crooked chauffeur as well! When Irma is found dead from a gunshot wound, the suspect list is very long! Soon however, one of the suspects is found dead! Police are suitably baffled, but ace reporter, Bob Adair (Russell Hopton) is hunting down leads. What clues are to be found in the movie that Irma was working on? DISCARDED LOVERS is an entertaining "whodunnit" from 1932. Comic relief comes in the form of an imbecilic cop named Delaney (Fred Kelsey), who is your basic boob. An enjoyable yarn that, at only 57 minutes long, zips along nicely...

Featuring strong female characters portrayed by noir mainstays Linda Darnell, Leslie Brooks, Constance Worth and Rosemary DeCamp, “City Without Men” is a enthralling melodrama about four fiery women who congregate at a boarding house adjacent to the prison in which their men are incarcerated. With a score by the famed composer David Raksin, this witty and violent Poverty Row film also features a notable turn from “The Wizard of Oz’s” Wicked Witch of the West herself, Margaret Hamilton.

Unintelligible
I was hoping for a good laugh from this obviously "below B" movie from Hollywood's golden age. Unfortunately the transfer is so abysmal, the sound quality is so bad, that I might have been watching a documentary about manatees, for all I know.
One thing I do know, however, was that one
of the lead manatees was Glenda Farrell...a fact that seems to be conspicuously missing from the cover of the DVD. That would have been a plus, by the way....as she always adds a great degree of snap to whatever she's in. If only one could hear what she was being snappy about....

Producer David O. Selznick and director Vittorio De Sica argued bitterly during the troubled production of this sad love story. Selznick wanted the film to be a slick, romantic feature, while De Sica, the master of Italian realism, wanted to portray a doomed relationship. Despite the friction behind the scenes, the film is considered by many to be a lost classic, boasting strong performances from Montgomery Clift and Jennifer Jones, as well as excellent camera work by De Sica’s frequent collaborator, G.R. Aldo.

Review :
brilliant, mesmerizing piece
Indiscretion takes place in one locale only, Rome's main train terminal. It chronicles the final moments of an ill-fated tryst between an Italian man (Montgomery Clift) and an American housewife (Jennifer Jones). But do not be fooled by the simplicity of this synopsis. Indiscretion is a multi-layered, surrealist script which, by focusing on the love affair between two people, takes a very courageous, analytical look at the clockwork behind the man's actions and the realities and demands of the society which formulates and steers those actions. In this story, it explains how this clockwork dictates and rules our lives, for better or worse. This analyzation is non-judgemental, and thankfully so.
Heavily targeted here are religion (monks and clerics are always nearby, following scenes between the couple), mortality and the fleeting nature of life (sinister clocks tick away, leaving less and less time available to the lovers), social and political authority (the threatening and...
Turmoil and passion in Italy's Terminal Station
"Terminal Station" was the result of a meeting of minds between two world famous filmmakers - Italy's Vittorio De Sica and U.S. mega-producer David O. Selznick. Their ideas of filmmaking were at opposite ends of the spectrum and the end result for the film was disastrous.
De Sica was one of Italy's pioneers of the "neo-realism" style of filmmaking which emphasized a gritty realism utilizing small budgets, hand-held cameras and actors with "characteristic" faces. David O. Selznick, on the other hand, was one of Hollywood's most successful producers who name was behind a roster of impressive films, notably "Gone With The Wind." His style was more reserved, romantic and "high-gloss." In 1942, Selznick had discovered a young girl from Tulsa, Oklahoma named Phylis Isley whom he groomed for stardom and changed her name to Jennifer Jones.
Jennifer Jones was a unique and talented actress who earned an Academy Award for her first major role in "The Song of Bernadette." She followed...
Illicit Love in the 50's... It was Hot!!!
I loved it. We always think of the 50's as being so pure and correct. Here we see people were just as prone to adultery as they are today. This movie shows how a torrid love affair can be filmed without taking off the clothes. It is the story of an American housewife who has been visiting her sister in Italy and ends up having an affair with a college professor. They are insanely in love. She is at the train station preparing to leave for home.
Professor shows up. It is awkward because her innocent nephew is there to see her off.
In this train station we see uninhibited lust, the insanity of being in love, all of this against the backdrop of the daily activities in the train station. I was breathless, glued to the set!!!
This type of story is some much more difficult to tell without the torrid bedroom scenes, but sooooo erotic.
Montgomery Cliff as the Professor could not pull of the Italian bit. He did not look it, nor sound it. He was thin, rackish, the last...
